When mother daughter duo Jen and Jordan joined together to create Dot and Daisy it transformed the everyday into whimsical moments that others will never forget. Their unique event decor is for everyone with the goal of bringing joy to each celebration.
I had the pleasure of meeting Jen & Jo at an event I hosted last fall and their energy and creative spirit shined through. I can't wait for you to learn more about these amazing women and I hope it inspires you to celebrate the big AND little moments in your life.
What sparked the idea to start this fun venture?
We're both creative, and have always wanted to run our own business. We found that balloons brought us joy, and were overwhelmed by the joy they brought others.
Have you always had a close mother daughter relationship?
Yes! We're the best of buds. Even when we lived in different cities we talked every day, multiple times a day. I like to think we grew up together.
Are you both creatives?
We are both creative by nature. Jo grew up in the theatre and taught music, theatre, and art classes in her spare time. Jen always has a new project going on. Whether it be covering a new room in the house with fantastical wallpaper, or trying to make her own side tables.
How did you come up with the name?
The name is both a nod to Jo's great-grandmother (Jen's grandmother), Dorothy, and represents the two of us coming together to create this business. Jen, the "Dot" is very business-minded. Whereas Jo, The "Daisy" is a little more "go with the flow."
How do you balance each other out?
Jen worries. Jo tells her not to worry. It works! Seriously though, we've just always been able to understand each other.
I recently listened to your podcast episode on Minnesota Circle and I love that you talked about 3 generations and what an amazing relationship --could you share a little about that.
Of course! Joe's grandmother (Jen's mom), Cathy is our resident "intern" and master seamstress. She spent a majority of her time crafting costumes for musicals & works with us on many, many projects. We wouldn't want, or frankly be able to do it without her.
Outside of work what’s your favorite activity?
Jo is a big reader, loves to spend time with friends, and go to theatre shows. Jen loves walking her dog Long John (or LJ as we call him), and thinking of new creative ideas.
Can you list all of the amazing things you offer in your business?
Balloon Garlands, Fringe Backdrops, Backdrop Rentals, Tiny Tent Sleepover Parties, and an Online Store.
Can you see why I love their imaginative nature and mother daughter relationship!?! Their creations and love for bringing joy to others is exactly the reason you should look no further for your next celebration!
