Mental health is a topic that touches so many lives, yet it’s not always easy to talk about. That’s why it’s so inspiring to see small businesses like Serenity Stitch Co creating space for these important conversations. When I came across Jessie’s page, I was immediately drawn to her mission—not just for her beautifully crafted apparel, but for the powerful message woven into every piece.
Mental health affects all of us, whether personally or through the people we love and interact with daily. Jessie’s brand is more than just a business; it’s a movement, sparking meaningful conversations and breaking down stigmas one stitch at a time. Serenity Stitch serves as a reminder that we’re never alone in our struggles and that healing begins with awareness and open dialogue.
Join me in celebrating this incredible MasterMom, who is using her creativity and passion to make a real impact. Let’s dive into her story and learn how she’s turning fabric into a force for change.
Let's Meet Jessie!
When I connected with Jessie, her passion for mental health awareness was immediately evident. With her husband being a therapist, mental health has been a central focus in their lives for over a decade. But it was the personal challenges her family faced after the birth of their daughter that truly shaped her mission.
A few months after welcoming their little one, their family endured a series of difficult situations that tested their strength and resilience. Jessie’s son, at just two years old, struggled with major behavioral challenges—difficulty eating, sleeping, and forming relationships. Despite reaching out for support, she often felt dismissed with remarks like, “Welcome to the terrible twos!” It wasn’t until they saw a pediatric neuropsychologist that they finally received validation. His diagnosis—ADHD, a highly sensitive personality trait, sensory issues, and a gifted IQ—shed light on their struggles and gave them the understanding they desperately needed.
Over the past year, Jessie and her family have faced intense judgment, highlighting just how prevalent the stigma around mental health still is. And her own challenges didn’t stop there—between postpartum mental health struggles, complications from a C-section, and a severe staph infection requiring hospitalization, she endured more in eight months than many do in years. As if that weren’t enough, her father suffered a critical medical emergency, landing in the cardiac ICU. Doctors told Jessie and her sisters to prepare for the worst, but against all odds, he pulled through—a true miracle. When Jessie finally spoke to him after the ordeal and asked how he was feeling, his response was simple yet powerful: “Grateful.”
That moment became a turning point for Jessie. It solidified her mission—to spread hope, awareness, and understanding around mental health. She realized that while mental wellness had always been a priority in her home, it wasn’t the case for everyone. She wanted to change that. Serenity Stitch was born out of this purpose, using apparel as a conversation starter, a way to break the stigma, and a reminder that no one is alone in their struggles. With embroidery as her primary medium—along with other creative techniques—Jessie is weaving messages of strength, resilience, and gratitude into every piece she creates.

Jessie, tell us how other moms can help support Serenity Stitch Co?
Sharing our mission, spreading mental health awareness and showing compassion are many ways that other moms can help support us. We have partnered with NAMI Minnesota (National Alliance on Mental Illness) so with each purchase we donate back to NAMI. They are an incredible non-profit that provides community resources, support groups and more to our community.

How does your mission align with your values as a mom?
My number one priority as a mom is to teach my children that their feelings regardless of the situation are valid and heard. By setting this confidence in them I hope that they never have to feel the deep anxiousness I have felt my entire life. If they feel supported and heard, it can foster a confidence in them that can propel them into adulthood with empathy and compassion. My hope is they can grow to be resilient and confident people who can help spread that to others.
How do you celebrate small wins in both your life and business?
My husband is my biggest cheerleader, I tell him everything! Every sale, inquiry, design and opportunity I update him and together we celebrate. Usually with a latte from Caribou!

What advice would you give other moms who would like to pursue their business idea?
My advice would be - to just start! There are so many opportunities out there that they may have not heard of. I had no idea how many people would want to support and engage with mental health awareness until I started. There are communities of people, businesses and support everywhere that are there to help you!
